Yaadei.n (ek baar phir)

Memories -

An endless flow
Like water in the rivers
Waves of thoughts
Ripples of faded pictures

Like a cloud in the hills
A wisp of smoke that lingers
Drifts away on closing the palms
Floats from between the fingers

Yaadei.n -

Jaise ek nadi ka paani
Jaldhaaraa bahati anant si
Khayaalaat ki chanchal laharei.n
Dhundhle drishyo.n ki ek tarang si

Parvato.n mei.n Thahre baadal
Dhuei.n ki lakir se
Ungliyo.n se fisal jaate hai.n
Band hatheli ke beech se

Lovely lovely poem Sigma.

Ab to mujhe sharm aati hai likhne mein bhi.

Just one query-- Why Khayaalaat, why not khayaalon ?
I think again only this word is a Urdu word.. rest all are Hindi. :)

And be ready.. O my official translator. ;)

@Shruti : Thanks a lot!

@Cuckoo : Thanks lady! Par aisa to mat kaho ... kyun mujhe sahrminda karti ho ?
'Khayalaat' - for one, I think that is the correct plural for 'khayal'. And secondly, it seems to lend more fluidity to the line :-) Seems like I am making it a habit - inserting one hindi word in urdu, or one urdu word in hindi ... arent you glad I didnt cross the boundary between hindi/urdu and english! Lol!!
Official translator always at your service ma'am :-) [btw, what about the last one I did ?]

'Dhuein main lakir si' - Kya baat hai Sigma! Brilliant!

I agree with Sigma on the simultaneous use of 'Hindi' and Urdu' words! (We talked about this for one of your earlier poems also!)

Though, you know best how you want to write your poem!

@BTR: Thanks!
"liked some lines in english and others in hind"
Well then I guess that my effort of translation was worthwhile :-)
This happens because some of the thoughts come to me in english, and some in hindi. And since I try not to cross the boundary between these two (well, not as yet :-)), I end up writing both the versions.
The pic was taken on our way to Chakrata (some more pics of the place on my travelogue).

@LeziB: As I said to Cuckoo and BTR, it is just the way the thoughts come. Hindi, smattered with urdu words has become so much our language of daily use - so it does not really seems like a distinction. Whenever in doubt, I try to use the word that seems to best describe the idea :-))
